Andreas Schrimpf is Professor of Astronomy at the Physics Department of the Philipps-University Marburg, Germany. His research interests include variable stars, young stellar system, and history of astronomy. He heads the History of Astronomy and Observational Astronomy group, which develops software for analyzing astronomical photoplates, studies long-term properties of variable stars and analyzes various stellar systems with combining spectroscopic and photometric observational data.

He is particular interested in the local history of astronomy.
